The iPod is the most popular portable media player. Below are the top 5 tips to make the most out of your iPod and it's functions.
Tip #1 - Buy a case!
All models of the iPod (with the exception of the Shuffle) are prone to scratches that can ruin it's pleasing aesthetics. As soon as you buy an iPod, buy a protecting case. You don't have to have it in the case all the time, but it's best to have it when traveling or when it's sitting dormant at home. While all iPod's are fairly durable and can withstand most falls, cases also further cushion any falls and protect the internal hardware.
Tip #2 - Use it as a storage device
The iPod doesn't just hold music and video files, it can store any file. With iPod's now offering up to 160GB of storage, it could easily double as an external hard drive or as a replacement for your bundles of portable 1GB USB drives.
Tip #3 - Buy new earphones
While the stock earphones are the social icon of the iPod, their sound quality is below average. Investing into new earphones (that are just as stylish) is well worth it -- you'll be surprised at how much better your music sounds.
Tip #4 - Properly name your files
Take the time to properly name your music and videos if they haven't been already. Searching for music will be a whole lot easier if each song is listed with their album, artist and genre information attached.
Tip #5 - Buy portable iPod speakers
Buying portable iPod speakers is fantastic for playing music around the house. While they're relatively bulky and not truly portable, they also double as a charging and syncing station for your iPod when plugged into a computer.
